An artist who combines the pounding earthiness of players such as Pinetop Perkins and Otis Spann with hints of the harmonic sophistication of players like McCoy Tyner and Thelonious Monk.

  • Agreed, he has always been a welcoming gentleman.

  • I had the pleasure of recording and mixing 2 of Bob's records - Lady First and Spirit - and he was one of the most pleasant personalities I've worked with. The Best was watching this huge guy with huge hands play his piano with unmatched delicacy and soulful vibe. Amazing player and gentleman.

  • Bob Thompson is one of the most underrated musicians on the scene. He is a wonderful person that the world needs to hear more from. Awesome talent and personality.

  • I sat in with Thompson at the River Front Cafe, Kanawha River, Charleston, West Virginia, circa 1995-96. Some Tuesday Jam night thing. God, he's righteous! He is also a Charleston East-ender if I recall. Ichiban???
