"A tough little girl with fierce determination tries desperately to fit in with her father's crew of cowboys, and realizes that her brains and innovation are the key to her success!"
"Horsepower" was a UC Berkeley student animation project that I pitched and directed. It is the collaborative work of 10 of my fellow CNM190 students and me. The constraint was that the story be 30-seconds long between titles. We created it using Autodesk MAYA 2013, Adobe CS5, Sculptris, Topogun, SAI paint Tool (texturing) and other various programs involved in foley.
Horsepower won the Audience Choice Award at the 2013 Napa Valley Film Festival as well as an Honorable Mention from judges from Intel, Atomic Fiction, and Amazon.
In addition to writing and directing, my other contributions to the film are:
- Animation of the dog, the girl, and many of the facial expressions and smaller detail nuances
- Background painting using SAI Paint Tool and PS
- Texture painting the human characters
- Helped develop the overall look of the film
- Miscellaneous matte painting, texturing, modeling, and blend-shaping.
