@MrDromahair alas I said "potential", I did not say Leitrim is a thriving county because it is not but for company's looking to invest in the area the potential is most definitely there! And seeing comments calling it a "shithole" and the other various sarcastic comments will not help our counties case!
@jackno16 It seems you've been doing your homework but does that take into account the people who are moving away? As you may have noticed from my username i am from Leitrim and i am proud of it and i am one of the thousands of people who had to emigrate to ensure a steady job and a brighter future. But the line "Yer all very quick to dismiss Leitrim's potential!" is crazy and if you think that a county that is full of empty houses, no jobs and a very poor economy has potential your delusional!
@MrDromahair I dunno, You have the whole of county sligo with 65,000, longford with 40,000, Ballina with 10,000, fermanagh with a further 60,000, Rosscommon with 63,000, roughly half of donegal so lets say 75,000 there, That's already well over 300,000! Yer all very quick to dismiss Leitrim's potential! Not too mention only two hours from Dublin!
@jackno16 OK i missed that but i still believe that number is highly exaggerated especially with the high emigeration rate and the large amount of people who have moved to Dublin and other larger cities in search of work
I mean, it's okay to build, but why not build beautiful places AFTER they're sold? And not identical ones, each with a view of the oil tank and oil burner in the garden? Who engineered this? Now the picturesque typical Irish cottages fall apart while people live in beehive-like developments (half empty nonetheless) built from paper-maché and plywood. With the plumbing close to the surface where everything will freeze next winter anyway. So sad! What have the Irish done to their Emerald Isle?
I've been travelling to Ireland (Co. Roscommon and Leitrim) since 1979. The place used to be enchantingly beautiful until sheer greed managed to get lots of pug-ugly housing estates being built, even add-ons to castles and the such. What happened to Lough Key Forest park also is very sad. I have no idea how this could have happened, and I hope that cancerous building boom stops dead right now. That flood-prone estate by the river in Carrick on Shannon? How could they!
Very good video to promote Leitrim to a great audience. Such positive comments from all on the video. Agree with MrDromohair - there are certainly not 300,000 people living in Leitrim. How could that error not have been noticed before the video was released? Or maybe I just heard it wrong? Any updated video since 2009?
