A Tribute to Jack Buck

I'd go to sleep listening to Cardinal games as Jack brought the games to life. Jeff Batson's song captures my memories. I hope you enjoy this video. It's the first I've done.

Vin Scully, Jack Buck, Harry Carey, Harry Kallis and more that I'm sure I am forgetting were cut from the same mold of greatness. The only true sad part about that is baseball is rapidly beginning to lose that type of broadcaster and my never get that back. At least, not with tv. Even though i am a cards fan i truly loved to hear them all and miss the ones who have passed terribly.

The one glaring omission I can see would be Ernie Harwell of the Tigers. All these men had that smooth easy voice that grabbed your attention, and the wit and communication skills to keep you mesmerized until the end.

As a life long fan, my earliest memories of Cardinal baseball are the pictures painted in my mind by the voice of Jack Buck. I didn't realize at the time I was listening to a legend. I was just grateful that the person on the other end of the microphone was there to describe the game so vividly and so eloquently. I continued to listen to Jack's broadcasts, even when the game was on TV. This video and the song are fitting tributes. Jack Buck you made us all winners. God Bless and thanks!
