This week's Pin-up is a success to me because I was able to find bits of time throughout the week to work on it and try things out. Having a one week old in the house makes things pretty difficult, but this video is made up of 21 different clips ranging from 5 minutes to 40 minutes depending on the time I had at each sitting. I usually like to focus on a piece and complete it, but this process forced my to analyze the artwork every time that I sat down. You will be able to see my thought process and decision making as I tried variations along the way.
Check back every Monday for a new Pin-up from DrakePin-up.com
Hope you enjoy

  • hey man it would be awesome if you would do a fullscreen next time, so we could see how you layer stuff and such. it looks to me like you make a layer for everything like even the fingers and thumbs.

  • that is funny. No, the fingers are not on separate layers. I had selected the thumb with the lasso and then hid the selection as I transformed it. There were 22 layers at the end.

  • Your best one so far. one question, how do you set up your brush in illustrator? i see that your using the blob brush if im not mistaken.

  • I only use one brush in Illustrator right now. It is the default brush but I turn the size control to "pressure" and the variation to the max. Hope that helps!

  • ni hablar quien es bueno es bueno

  • urgh so jealous lol

  • Amazing skills!

  • Incredible! How many hours are we watching in real time?

  • I've found that illustrator is very mouse friendly, because, it auto smooths everything you draw, which is very nice because it straightens out your lines. I am actually surprised that, they didn't make one main drawing/editing app, and let you choose between vector and bitmap. but hey from adobes perspective if they combine them, #1 they would get less money, because people would only buy one app, or they have to price high, #2 it would make load time slower.

  • Thanks for this tutorial! It is useful

  • simply awesome form on this one. AI & PS skill are crazy

  • Working on a laptop eh, yeah power adaptors are a bitch.

    Great job.
