Kieran Hebden, a.k.a. Four Tet, talks inspiration, collaboration and evolution.

After making several splashes over the past seven years as Four Tet, Kieran Hebden was looking for something new. Enter respected jazz drummer Steve Reid. Hebden and Reid teamed up for a series of collaborations which revolutionized the way both musicians worked.

  • THOSE EYES my god

  • i know what you mean - I'm a huge four tet fan, but surprised that he's so generalist when it comes to classical music. he struck me as someone who is very open minded and eclectic in taste, but apparently not... still love four tet though.

  • @Rurne His eyes are always like that -_-

  • Kieran Hebden / Steve Reid - Departure

  • @ksabalo i totally see your point, and agree. though I didn't call him narrow minded, rather, i said that the video suggests he apparently isn't open minded. I think it's fair to say that dismissing an entire musical tradition (what he refers to as 'classical' is the western art tradition that has spanned the last few centuries and includes phenomenally diverse styles) in such stark fashion, does suggest that in this instance, he isn't quite as open minded as he could be. Don't you think?

  • @fishybishbash he seems to spend a lot of time on the computer...and we thank him for that...

  • How much cocaine did this blathering lunatic do before the interview? His eyes look like they're about to leap out of his head, and he's talking in such general terms that he has to be high as hell.

  • He could play a really good voodoo zombie in a George Romero film with those eyes!

  • He doesn't like classical music? That's fucking racist, i'm going to sue him,

  • Love his POV from an artist / inspiration standpoint. Not wanting to make something just like what he heard from an amazing album he listened to, but using that inspiration to make music just as amazing! That kind of statement alone inspires me as an artist / musician!!

  • @txusic he didn't disrespect classical music, he just said he couldn't get into it. Chill out...
