Acne is the most common skin disorder seen by doctors. Most people experience acne at least once in their lives. Acne can be embarrassing and frustrating. Thankfully there are ways to prevent acne, and to get rid of acne you may already have.
1. The first step to getting rid of acne and preventing further breakouts is to pinpoint the cause of the acne. Contrary to popular belief, acne is not caused by dirty skin, eating too much chocolate or sugar, or drinking too much pop. Acne is actually caused by overactive oil glands In your skin.
2. Try to keep your hair away from your face. Your hair can get oily throughout the day. This is normal. Try to keep these oils off of your face as they can cause breakouts. Also keep your hands away from your face as they are also covered in bacteria and natural oils.
3. Wash your face with relatively warm water. This will open your pores for cleansing. Cold water should be used right after cleansing to close your pores.
4. Clean your makeup brushes on a regular basis. Never go to bed without washing off your makeup. This will clog your pores and can lead to breakouts.
5. Change your sheets mainly your pillowcase regularly. Dirty pillowcases are full of bacteria that can worsen your acne.
6. If you have acne scars from previous breakouts, try using Aloe Vera to lighten the scars and make them less visible.
7. Do not pop, or squeeze blemishes This can lead to an infection and is more likely to scar. It will also worsen your acne.
8. Put a small amount of toothpaste dotted on your pimples before you go to bed at night. This method is used best for oily skin as it dries out the area, getting rid of the excess oils.
Overall, care for your skin, but dont obsess over your acne. Your face will heal with proper care and nourishment.
