I would first find a teacher, and then ask them to help with instrument selection. Most stores have good rental programs, and at these sizes, the quality of sound they produce is pretty poor. Also, when Maya started lessons, it was some time before she even moved to the instrument. I would recommend starting to look for a teacher (visit and observe a few if possible), because the quality of the teacher is probably more important than the quality of the instrument.

I played the violin for over 10 years.. the younger you start, the better. She's going to be fantastic in a few years! Just wait and see! Wish her the best.

Our Suzuki family loves this. We immediately noticed her strong bow hold, clean bow circles, and sensitive dynamics. Way to go Maya and congratulation to her fine teacher.

hi, i just started my son for violin. he just turned 3 last january.but he couldn't concentrate during lessons. Am i starting too early? should I wait for another year?

@vivien26us The key in the beginning is short lessons (6-7 minutes). Then gradually lengthen them as he can handle it. Also, make sure to play the CD's alot!
