This movie was filmed during the last day of operation of PBA (Provincetown Boston Airlines) which at that time was acquired by some major airline companies as depicted by the many different paint schemes on the airplanes. Although they may have tried to fragment the company, they never fractured the spirit of the employees right up to the last day and beyond.

  • Holy Smokes! Bob Pineo!! I worked crash rescue in the little red brick building from 85 to 90.

  • Thanks for this great video. I flew PBA many times while living on the Cape. What was my favorite plane?..the venerable DC-3. I grew up with DC-3s back in the '50s with Capital and Mohawk Airlines. When I moved to Cape Cod it was a distinct joy to re-discover flying in a DC-3!

And the many good folks at PBA will not be forgotten. Thanks...and more thanks!

  • I worked as a FA for PBA in the mid-1980's...WHAT A BLAST! Love me some DC-3's and YS11's...amde my cry.....

  • P B A I thought that it was short for Pick a Better Airline...I had a blast working for that tiny airline. I'll never forget when the cape got fogged in and every passenger kept asking for the ETD. One of our agents pointed to the pay phone and said "dial 1-800-FOG-LIFT. Here's another good one, Jan would say, "Just one moment I'll check out my crystal ball"! soneill

  • Wish they were still around. I would've loved to fly in one of those DC-3s!

  • Wow, brings back old memories. Tim Loney - Load Planner up to the end (JAX).

  • Man this is wonderful. Anne from APF Res...employee #0842. PBA was a wonderful family. Great memories....Wow...wonderful!

  • PBA was the greatest airline of all time! My last ride on a DC3 was EYW to MIA probably in 1984 ... my first was DEN to MKG in 1949 at age 11 days. :-) I still have a PBA stock certificate on the wall in my den. Long live the memories!

  • Holy crap, I forgot all about that fateful day. I remember them buzzing the hangar around lunch time, and the big blowout party at the bar near the HYA the last night. Sodano and Shwantz getting ripped, Charlie with his apples and coke. And who can forget Kapp, living in that DC-3 next to the building.
