In his questions at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Afghanistans Impact on Pakistan, Senator Dick Lugar asked the witnesses how we should approach talks with President Karzai, how should we initiate talks with the Pashtun people, would successful negotiations with the leadership of Afghanistan or the Pashtun people lead to a more reliable defense around cities against intruders, and what other countries do we need to consider in these talks that might have reasons to try to destabilize the positive affects of these negotiations.
