I went shopping around Shinjuku for 5 hours for the "last time". I really enjoyed myself then. I had a huge bowl of udon for $3 right before the lunch rush and I sat on a bench and people-watched for a good portion of my time.

After going back to the hotel (and making a bunch of really bad lipsyncing videos) I packed up everything and hauled my butt across the metropolis from Shinjuku to Tokyo station. I took the Narita Express to the airport, checked in my luggage, and waited at the gate.

Because I'm on standby and the seats were fully booked, I did not make the flight and was escorted back downstairs to get my baggage. I had no plans for the night as I expected to get on a plane, therefore had no accomodation and food.

I had 300 yen left in my pocket and $7 CAD on my credit card. I had already paid it off, but it takes 3-5 business days for the transaction.

After dragging all my luggage across the town of Narita for half an hour I found a Comfort Inn. I stayed there for 2 hours (mostly trying to buy time so I would spend less time outside) talking to my dad and anyone else on my phone list. We thought up a bunch of plans but none of them seemed to work. All the hotels and hostels were fully booked. I was semi-prepared to sleep outside or at the McDonalds, but I had too much pride to even enter the McDonalds, so right when I took my things and left, the manager of the Comfort Inn gave me a map with a drawing on it. It showed where to go, there was a hostel 10 minutes away that had room.

I thanked them graciously (giving them each a postcard of Vancouver) and took all my stuff and left. It turned out to be less than 10 minutes. I think they told me it was 10 minutes so that it'd seem like less when I actually got there.

The place was pretty nice. The clip you see of me walking across the floor is actually how I had to walk to keep my open wounds from touching the floor.

I used this song because missing this flight really was my fault. My dad warned me that I couldn't make it back if I didn't try for the 5th. But, in the end I learned more in my final days in Japan, than I learned throughout the whole trip.

    Did you enjoy your trip?

Do you want to go back there one day?
