The San Antonio Fire Department did a great job of battling this fire at the San Pedro Manor Apts San Antonio TX 1.27.09 at San Pedro & Marshall St looking North.
This 3 Alarm Fire gutted an old 32 unit Apartment Building. I happened to be right on the cross street when the black smoke covered downtown, shutting off a huge grid of power for about half and hour. Our severe drought , coupled with the wind at N 15 Gusting to 28 MPH made this potentially dangerous for nearby homes, apts and businesses. There was a Wendy's next door to the structure and a Gas Station not far away! The fire was contained thanks to the brave work by our San Antonio Fire Department.
Please Read the Story - Youll see one of my photos there too! Im so glad they used it.

  • thanks for the footage...now i'll have footage of the biggest fire i've been to yet (was on ladder truck right side video) and at :57-1:17 it was SOMETHING else. was so hot that the Wendy's sign next door started smoking & guy's wet gear was steaming from 30/40 yards away from the radiant heat.

again thank you for your footage

  • THANK YOU! The fire was so out of control, and what you guys did was amazing. It seemed on the other side of Marshall St that the heat was sucked right out of the air. It felt like as i walked closer, the heat was just being sucked right out of the air. I turned off the cam at that moment, cause i was afraid the guy on the left ladder was in danger, and the smoke was pouring toward us on that corner. I would be happy to send you the full footage. THANK YOU for saving lives. †

  • That's cool how you can hear the fire alarms going off in the building

  • Not a marshmallow in sight.

  • i remeber this. i was driving home when this happened. even the truckers on the cb radio were talking about it.

  • Diggy cam or not you did a good job of catching this saved to my playlist

  • wow great shot

  • the guys who've been there years at the station (and we're way downtown...by municipal courts) knew EXACTLY which building it was when the regular (fire) dropped...unfortunately they were just waiting for it to come in.

  • Wow! How did I miss this one!?

Seems like the theme around here with the flaming fires....my neighbor set his shed on fire during my birthday party! LOL Thought I'd say everyone the boredom and not post it. But, THIS! This is HAWT!
