@5traun18 a little late response but, no. Take ur mic toGC and they can get the freq. Response and order u a new receiver, I have a shure wireless mic that is discontinued I found at a pawn shop with no receiver. I took it to GC and they order me a new one that came with a carrying case and power supply and had a spot for the mic that fits perfect

Might be a stupid question, but can i use a Shure Beta 58a mic with the AKG SR40 receiver? My shure receiver was dropped and broken and now i'm looking for a cheaper alternative.

how about Vocopro wireless mics??

I wonder since you can't seem em in the states after june will there be a big glut of these units in the canadian market since we don't make the transition till aug 20100. Could be many bargain to be had. :)
Thanks for the great video. AKG makes some great pro gear.

the new ones are available now if you want them. they are offering a trade in program if you have an old UHF wireless system. it's confusing,,, i want to do a whole separate video on this issue.

ill wait until after june. i hate the stupid digital translation thing
-
the list price was about $500. originally i paid $200 for the sr40, and $250 each for the sr80's. they are all discontinued due to the new digital transition.
which doesn't mean necessarily that they won't work after June. I'm certain they WILL WORK. just as a company, legally they can no longer manufacture them. and your (not supposed to) used them after June.
but unless your DJing a gig at the white house, it wont matter much.

how much does it sell for??
Hi mate, just wondering what kind of mic is better..a jack mic or an XLR?
IRTOMM 2 years ago
@IRTOMM xlr is balanced, 1/4 is unbalanced so just depends what your doing with it...you wouldnt see a jack mic used in a studio or concert,,, but it might be ok for karaoke or djing.

another thing vocopro made a new technology which doesn't use uhf or vhf but is Infrared... any thought on this???

really? your tv remote control uses infrared,,, what happens when you put your hand in front of the remote? it doesn't work.

Great Vid
It certainly prevents fingers from tampering with the Mic controls, but it could make it more difficult for them when they need to turn it on and off.

aparantly the mic HAS to be powered on the whole time, otherwise it "popps" when you turn the power off on the mic. its kind of ridiculousness, maybe that's why they discontinued it?
