This is Part 4 of the CodeIgniter Tutorial on creating a User Registration form. In this tutorial we get into some more interesting things like creating the database, the user table, the model and inserting the data from the registration form into the database. Finally we can register users!

If there is any interest (leave a comment!) I will do another tutorial following on from this which will cover things like setting up an email confirmation to complete the registration process - ie; they aren't fully registered until they have responded to the email message.

  • Thanks! I'm surprised you think so but thanks!

Did you just respond to the question on DynaPoll about best secondary weapon on MW2?

  • No worries! Suggest or vote for other video topics at my new site - Dynapoll! there is a poll on there about codeigniter vids - just search for codeigniter... seems youtube doesn't want me to mention my site!

    Shameless plug! :)

  • I'd suggest using varchar 32 for password field.. then we use md5() on every password ... and we got safe passwords with no sweat :D , great piece of work anyway.. it really cleared my mind. (I'm familiar with php mysql etc but just starting CI :< )

  • Hey, i see you've inserted the name "Alasdair Boyd", but what if i want that field in alphanumeric only? it won't allow me because of the blank space, is there any way to solve that without calling a callback function? in other words: i want that field in alphanum but allow me the blank space.

By the way, this is a kick ass tutorial

  • Excelent! keep up the good work!
