Quick correction, JGamm, the liquid that is in the coconut itself is not coconut milk, but coconut juice. Coconut milk is squeezed out of shredded coconut flesh - that's the white coconut liquid that you see in "the movies" (? - not sure where you got that from). Go to an asian store and look for coconut milk in cans. You will see what I mean. And trust me, cause I'm asian.

Watch the movie Flipper. A guy breaks a coconut open with two fingers to show how strong he is and pure white liquid comes out. I just always assumed it was called milk. I'm sure I'm not the only one making the mistake. Thanks for pointing it out. There is only one Asian store around here, and they don't sell coconut milk.
