Simon Cowell Apologizes to Cheryl Cole for 'X Factor' Firing

Hi there, you're watching CLevverMusic and I'm your host Bridget Daly. Now that Cheryl Cole is officially out of the X Factor, Simon Cowell decided he should probably issue an apology. According to the UK Sun, he contacted Cole to tell her he took full responsibility for the decision to axe her in favor of Sherzinger, and told her it was for her own good! Sources say Simon told Cheryl seemed out of her league on the U.S. show, and so producers offered her a quiet exit with the offer of returning to her old job on 'The X Factor' U.K. Yikes.
An insider says they tried to do it quietly and move her back to the UK show, but it didn't go down as easily as planned. Apparently there was a lot of money on the table for her—some are saying 2.5 million euros to go back to Britain—but because Cheryl wouldn't return phone calls to execs, the offer was withdrawn. Simon said in a statement, "I embarrassed her. ... But the truth was I was protecting her. I just want people to be in the best place at the right time." He added that she wasn't terrible, but he thought she'd be better in the UK. So there ya have it. Do youthink Simon handled this well? Simon humiliated her. But in a way, it is Cheryl's fault. I know that she wanted to be bigger,but she had to think that the US was a much more bigger country than the UK, and so, people would of had more different opinions.The truth is, the Americans didn't know who she was.(most of them anyway) And some wanted this massive star to be on the judging pannel. I don't take anyone's side on this story. Simon made a big mistake, but Cheryl should of stuck in the U.K until she would get more famous.
