  • @tastefulphrasing i'm guessing it will engage your lats alot more than abs because your trying to keep upright whilst pushing forwards, even though your abs will be statically contracted

  • Ill bet putting the pressure on the rack like that must force your abs more also. Would I be correct on that?

  • @hagenissepuler because the smith machine is for pussys. Seriously though, free weights are a lot better because it requires the use of your stabilizer muscles, and it will make you work harder and get better results if you use free weights. Also the smith machine moves in a straight up and down motion, which is an unnatural path for exercises such as presses and squats, and pretty much any other exercise too.

  • is there any reason for not doing this in the smith machine exept from the the bar choice?
