Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot

Speaking of ignorance. Scientific discoveries were not "made" but are based on theories that have been proven (with the exception of one). The purpose was never and is not to disprove religion. The scientists (regardless of discipline) decided for themselves that religion was goofy and sought to explain the world around them in a logical way. So no, I will not admit that. Respect for one and other is the only way we are going to advance.

You are right.

you have to admit, we can't advance as a civilization if we respect obsolete ideologies. There comes a point where you have to think about the real world instead of holding on to perceptions of the past. The reasons all these scientific discoveries were made on how life works was to disprove religion, and they have done so. By people still firmly holding on to these beliefs is just ignorance and arrogance.

I wish everyone on this pale blue dot would watch this (and the entire Cosmos series). I wish more people could understand how greed and corruption are the opposite reason as to why we are here. Only when we all work together, in harmony, much like the electrons and protons of an atom, can we achieve the greatness that is this planet.
