Europe was Rome, so it's not just Italians who are descendants. It's the ancestor of Western Civilazation as a whole.

Don't you try Romolo and Remo founded Rome and the descendants of the Romans was born in Rome, in Italy. Then Rome and the Romans had civilized the whole of Europe and beyond.

@HelenaRussell You're both right in a way. You honestly can't believe that the Roman Empire was made up entirely of Italians, or even that the Legions were made up mostly of Italians? Ever heard of the Auxilia? Celts and other tribes were levied into legions too, for example Legio V Alaudae.

There were African emperors, Iberian emperors (Trajan), politicians from across the empire etc. Rome originated in Rome obviously, but by the end of it's time, like Slick said Rome: was Europe.

@Unremarkable1000 I don't belive that Roman Empire were made by Italians at all, but the Roman Empire have exported their life philosophy that made only in Rome so in Italy:-)

@Unremarkable1000 But after being Roman was not a matter of which Tribe you were from, but of Citizenship and some gained status in Rome, except for the Ancient Families that had that Trait by Birth. Many "outsiders" have achieved great wealth and respect within Roman Circles, and they were Fierce defenders of the Roman Culture and Law.
