@harleyspoon Oh yes they were. They definitely were enemies and traitors. His accusations weren't baseless like everyone thought and almost everyone thinks to this day. He had evidence. It's just that they were classified so he couldn't just show it out for everyone to see. Since about 20 years ago these documents are opened to all and Everyone who isn't a liberal (the stupidest creatures on earth) or just denying everything could see.

Rove, Cheney, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, many of the modern right wingers, especially in Texas (where I live), are much like McCarthy. They use his tactics in their politics of personal destruction. Yes the Soviets had spies all over the world in high & low places but not everyone who disagreed with US policy was as McCarthy implied, enemies of the state or fellow travelers of the Reds. That mantra of "if you aren't 100% with me, you are 100% against me" is perverted & illogical.
