Savestate Glitch Sonic The Hedgehog

I decided to show what happens when you load the wrong savestate. I used Gens Movie, Sonic The Hedgehog Long version and Sonic The Hedgehog. You can also use Kega Fusion. There are some very noticeable glitches that occur when this happens, both musical and graphical. The Z80 tries to process both Green Hill Zone's BGM and Sky Chase Zone's BGM, along with sound effects. And the hud is mostly red, normally it's yellow along with that, Sonic's life hud has changed to letters. Sonic and all related characters are trademarks of Sega.

the only reason its able to play the demo is because the coding of sonic 2 came from sonic 1, but some code from sonic 1 is still in sonic 2 so it has enough sonic 1 code to proccess the game

@sonicfan2234 Yep you're right. :) And Sonic 3 is based off heavily edited code from Sonic 2. Sonic 3K is very sensitive when you go to hack it though, adding one small line of code or even commenting out or "nop"ing out something can break the rom. :\ (Nop in 68K asm means "No Operation" in which the compiler looks over the code that is next to the operation, basically acting as if it doesn't exist btw.)

@warr1or2 go into a different game (e.g sonic 2 emerald hill zone) and make a save state there then go back to sonic 1 and load that exact state

How is this done in gens? I tried renaming a save state and loading with F8, and LOAD STATE...

@sonikku1011 besides it looks like it should except the score and rings and stuff at the top left of the screen and maybe some palletes got darker. :D
