@filenstyle Yeah if you don't care about recording time. Or sound. Or ergonomics. Or other features related to video work. I love the DSLR video fans, it's the people that don't use them that recommend them to everybody! It's a bit hard to do a steady zoom/pan/follow-focus with a DSLR, and it's impossible right out of the box.

@akanathan: you got it. The market is desperate for gear with these kinds of specs. The japanese video engineers/developers were wholly indifferent to it and the DSLR movement forced them to finally try and deliver.
They have the means to make this stuff awhile ago, but just wouldn't do it.

"Affordable" .. Yeah right, it's £16,000! What they forgot to mention was its affordable to companies with much larger budgets than the individual filmmaker!

@MrChevypower Zeiss have now made cine lenses for the HDSLR, so it's not a fad only, and the technology will continue
Yes, i understand about vid time available and you can zoom pan etc with aftermarket kit. You should also realize the 35 mm, at leas the good stuff that makes it perform is bigger than many hi end camcorders
Won't be long before they will have a jack for headphones to monitor audio, and the video duration will be longer

so good that dlsr started shooting HD because it has made these companies get off their asses to design some decent cameras for filmmakers.
