Atlanta Snow Storm 2011 Time Lapse

completely crippled. At 11:00 p.m. Peachtree St. and Five Points in downtown Atlanta looked like a deserted "ghost' town" as shown on the local TV news.

The local Interstates were jammed-packed with motor vehicle accidents with negligent motorist apparently trying to get home not paying any attention to the warnings of this phenomenal southern January snow storm.

Just recently, two weeks ago on Christmas day, December 25, 2011. Metro-Atlanta residents enjoyed the pleasure of a "White Christmas" for the first time in 128 years since 1882. On that particular day receiving 2-3 inches of beautiful snowfall, which made driving conditions some-what hazardous the next day on the 26th, but nothing like this approx. two weeks later, which began around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday night January 09, 2011, coming in from the east-side of Alabama USA, because the earth turns to the west, with it's also fast jet-stream effect.

Ironically? Atlanta residents had an over 36 hour warning period as noted by The Weather Channel and national news to please stay off the roads of the night after 7:00 p.m. on January 09, 2011. However? some drivers seem to be stubborn to take notice of this unusual Atlanta, Ga. weather notice, thus still driving on Interstates I-75, I-85 in downtown Atlanta, Ga. and it's surrounding circle Interstate called I-285, creating more automobile accidents and making things more complicated for Ga. DOT workers trying to do their jobs.

Metro-Atlanta surrounding cities like Douglasville, Ga. located on the west-side of Atlanta, are still contemplating this strange and unusual weather for the past two years. Especially the highest rated September 20-21, 2009 incredible rain-flood-storm, which Carrol County and Douglas County received a remarkable rains of 18 inches within a 24 hour period.
