As referenced in Wikipedia, with influence form the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) Depersonalization is seen as a personal state of being, typically brought on by traumatic stressors, which creates the illusion of unreality in a person's perception. They can experience complete detachment from their body, surroundings, things familiar, feeling 'floaty', alienated, and ghost-like. Derealization is another cross firing of perception, but rather than misregulation of internal stability to external stressors, the world around them is perceived as distorted. People and objects are seen in multiple shades, contrasts, seemingly cartoonish, reports of objects 'breathing', many insisting they were in a "constant dream-like state".

  • Man, the audio is so out of sync I can't even... most soothing voice I've ever heard though. Should probably do audio books for a living, lol.

  • I have both two along with visual snow. Im 20 and ive had it for 3 years. Thats crazy what you say about looking at your hands. I never notice how it looks detach till now! but i actually look at my hand everytime i start to trip out and move it to make myself feel like im real. The 1st time i experienced it was 9th grade and it happened from smoking marijauna, also how i got it permenantly. I dont recognize my face in the mirror. the world looks different but exactly the same.

  • Good story, the way u explained it was spot on. I think the anxiety triggered by drugs in my case caused my dp/dr. Memory loss poor coordination and cognitive abilities the only good part of my day to day life is bed time, cause i feel like a child who needs his sleep.

Im seeing a psychotherapist and just started taking buspar for generalised anxiety which is horrible but im hoping it will pass soon cuz i really need my life back and if i had just one wish from god it would be to be normal aga

  • @RafaelJrRomero That was because you were high smh

  • I have difficulty getting across to those around me what derealization and depersonalization are like. I have dissociation, but I would be very surprised to find I had DID. I very much doubt it. I'm a sexual abuse survivor, though. Teachers thought I was naughty in gradeschool. No, I was dissociating very badly. Everyone in class always seemed to know what we were doing, but me. I would stare out the window on the bus, and by the time it stopped, I'd have forgotten where I was and who I was.

  • So nice to hear from another person with these problems... and awesome to learn the names of macropsia and micropsia. It somehow makes it feel less freaky to know other people go through it. Thank you.

  • I know its not relevent.

    But you are very pretty.

    :)

  • Everything moving/breathing. I get that all the damn time.

  • lose the lip piercings, go for long walks, volunteer to help the less fortunate

  • You ought to make more videos, I'm very interested in your take on Depersonalization and how you've dealt with it, whether you experience memory loss (a very frustrating bi-product of my DP), how you deal with the feeling of not knowing people that ought to be close to you. I think I'm going to make a video myself about DP... anyways you seem highly intelligent and empathic and I got a lot out of your story and descriptions of your DP. hope you make another video, ciao

  • please do more videos...
