Today, I can't help myself...I'm adopting the semi-wild dingo cross. This is how I pick up and settle in a very shy dog. I've renamed him Farouk.

  • @SiggyStern We are so lucky that Martin lives here! His book 'What Your Dog's Telling You?' is officially released for sale & public applause today (nearly) September 1. Published by ABC Books as a series of questions abt dog's & their behaviour & Martin's deeply thought out ideas are what every dog owner needs to know. I have had dogs all my adult life & Martin has taught me a lot I thought I knew was incorrect & he explains everything clearly. This book is a must have for genuine dog lovers!

7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is nothing...I did not know I thought it was at least 3 - 4 weeks (and even this I find too little time to really find new homes for many)..........men kind really is blind to the suffering they cause to the animal world.......sad!

  • The dog welfare system in Austria is something you can be very proud of Siggy!! I truly wish Australia wd follow the 'non-kill' policy, with doggy 'godmothers & fathers' for all the pound dogs here. Sadly they don't even get weeks (plural) b4 they are put down - it's 7 days in the pound & unless someone rescues that dog, it is killed after only one week. Men are so blindly cruel & they aren't even conscious of the suffering they inflict on all the animals which they exploit for whatever reason.

I really like to have watched this video....it was interesting to see how humans and dogs can work together like this (in a way that is as natural and relaxing as shown here..)....I wish all animals would be treated like this!

  • Farouk was very lucky that he was semi-domesticated when you got him Martin. I have a dingo X named Shiner whose mother was a pure dingo who was 80% wild. She hated me taking one of her pups & gave me a nip. S. was very scared then, but is now part of my 'Gang of Four'. He still hides under the bed when ppl arrive & only if you ignore him will he come out to sniff you - on his own terms. He has gained confidence in me & the pack but is still shy. 2nd/3rd time you meet him he starts to relax.
