@aliciaRaeN a switchblade is any pocketknife where the blade is released by pushing a button on the handle. a spring assisted has a thumb stud or lever or something like that directly on the blade. You press that part of the blade when the knife is closed to release the blade, then a spring inside the knife flicks the blade open quickly.

What's the difference between switchblade and spring assisted? Just wondering, my boyfriend just bought the last one for me for protection, i'm trying to figure out if I can carry it or not, thanks for any help.
