  • thanks for posting Ubiuman. There's an old saying "Free yourself, and free the world." from my world view, I can see China struggling with its identity in this modern world - once they come to appreciate that Tibetans as their brothers, and not servants, or property, the world will change. And I'm not referring to Chinese people, who are kind and generous, but to the current regime. Once China is free, Tibet will be free. And I will check out the film, post a link if you have one. thanks.

  • The same thing happened to my Aunty who went ot Tibet but the experience was traumatic because she was told to speak chinese wherever she went in Lhasa. She learnt Tibetan with difficulty only as 17 year adult and this language didnt seem to be much of use in Lhasa. She speaks 6 other languages and is a doctor and western educated. She says she can never go to lhasa again, its too humiliating.

  • thanks for posting

  • I am finishing a film that simply displays 10 Tibetan refugees telling their personal stories in Tibetan, directly to the camera with no editing, no coaching, etc. It will be of interest only to Tibetans, of course.

A film maker, alternatively, must also face Western audiences tastes and attention spans (as it appears Mr. Martini did--in his style). Thus, I have a second film of these refugees telling their stories, edited and in English translations, and illustrated with animated visuals.

  • Sounds like a tragic experience 119967 chado, and not uncommon throughout history, in many places where governments sought to control and homogenize portions of their population who wished to save one of the most precious (if not the most precious) aspects of their culture, language. And the controllers also achieve another end, they distort that culture's history, belief system(s) and identity. Just look how long it took the world to appreciate the Native American culture for that reason!

  • Communist China must respect Human Rights and stop its policy of inhuman treatment of Tibetans n Christians n Foreigner discrimnation before the Olympic games can have value. This sweetgame has been rocked with violence and disorder around the world because Chinese Communist government does not want to free Tibetans. They claim to have a free and fair system but the reality is China needs tobe an eye-opener for the world governments to intervene. Its Human Right record is poor n Tibetans suffer.

  • People who do not know about Tibet go to Tibet and they come back brainwashed. I have seen it.

Tibetans would like their country back.

If things were good in Tibet reporters would be allowed in Tibet, but reporters are not allowed in Tibet.

  • Deluded folk. Tibetan is alive and being taught in schools all over Tibet. China has doen a lot of good in Tibet. Visit it and ask the people there. had it not been so the Chinese Governemnt would not have had the confidence of allowing so many anti-Chinese westerners there.

So be objective and not abusive and ignorant!

  • Thank you very much for the information. Your comment shows how rapdily the Tibetan language is being wiped out and is good evidence of the Cultural Genocide in Tibet.

  • Do you think all Tibetan families speak Chinese at home ????
