This is Shimmy. He is one of two black moor goldfish that we have. He had an eye infection (most likely pop-eye) for 2 weeks. We tried several treatments all of which failed to cure him. Then one day I turned on the tank light and he got spooked. He swam too fast into one of our fake plants and cut his eye open. The end result is a sad looking fish.
I woke up this morning to see the same thing with my Black Moor Google........ Eye is completely gone - judging by the injury its very clean, suggesting it was sucked out. Now theres only 2 things that could do that - my pleco and/or my uncapped Eheim 2215 filter intake.
I'm thinking it was the 2215 - I feel so sorry for him =/

I have a one-eyed platy, but it was born that way.

I have two one eyed goldfish =P A one eyed calico Shubunkin from Petco and a one eyed calico Telescope eye goldfish fom Petsmart. They are very interesting to watch. My Shubunkin will swim leaning to one side so his good eye can see either the top of the water or the gravel when hes searching for food.
