If you are the type to be easily offended, don't watch this and then complain. This is a Mac vs PC spoof which satires sectarian thought and practices, including those found in certain "restoration" churches.

We plan on doing a higher quality version (this one was done in a very limited couple of hours).

  • COC was nondenominational before nondenominational was cool.

  • I don't even know who are those guys(Stone&Campbell). But I strongly believed that the church is the body of Christ (Col 1:18,24), purchased with His precious blood (Acts20:28) and baptism is a part of man's salvation/regeneration...

  • 6:40-7:19 were the best two haha

  • i guess this was kind of droll. Need to follow it up with a vid on how each sect can do a better job of doing God's will and having unity!

  • @moth... -- What I'm telling you is that I enjoyed the video. I see great merit in looking candidly and with humor at ourselves and our traditions -- and also in recognizing that we each stand before God as sinners cast upon his mercy. John Calvin was surely a man of his times. We praise him insofar as he may have advanced human liberty from ecclesiastical tyranny under the gospel. God help us to challenge, provoke & yet love, accept, & serve each other as He has and does! Blessings to you.

  • @408knw -- But the details of the Servetus affair are beside the point, as is your argument. I'm saying that everyone, even the most renowned of Christians, has moral failings. People who are looking for one more reason to demonize Calvinism act like Calvin was somehow worse for (gasp) *advising* a heresy case. Well bless my soul! Obviously that invalidates his whole theology! Except it doesn't. Not if you're calmly and objectively evaluating reality.

  • @408knw -- John Calvin burned no man. The real story goes something like this: Calvin and the Geneva City Council both held to a form of Two-Kingdom theology that stated that only the State could wield capital punishment and only Church could preach gospel. However, State had the duty to promote orthodox religion. And that's what the Genevan Council did. Calvin had no role in the actual execution, as per his convictions. He only advised Geneva on Servetus' punishment.

  • @mothcorrupteth -- So you figure that John Calvin was elected by sovereign grace to selectively burn at the stake people who came to his church? Well -- Jesus did warn his disciples that the time would come when "those that kill claim they are doing service to God..."

You've definitely given me a lot of profound stuff to think about here!

  • @408knw -- I'm not sure what your arguments are supposed to prove. That God uses sinful men to start churches? Even Paul had his thorn in the flesh -- a messenger (angel) of Satan to torment him. I am personally glad to know that John Calvin, the key theologian in my own tradition, advocated Servetus' burning, because God isn't in the business of saving fictitious sinners, but real ones.

  • @mothcorrupteth -- One established so an English King could fool around with women other than his wife and the other names after a guy who begged those who loved him not to name a church after him.... or somethin' like that?

  • Yep. I think I get 'cha, guys.

  • To me, it shows the many divisions of denominational teaching. The coc goes by the bible and the world goes by man.

  • One of these days when you get the theology of man out of your head, and quit repeating the mantras of men, you might look back on this foolishness and see with spiritual eyes the mockery you have created here. Our Father is spirit and you must worship him in spirit to see his face. not some silly arguments about who is doing religion right! Your burnt offerings of legalism and rules and judgments are all a smoke in the nostrils of our Father. We are all filthy rags before Him!

  • hmmm

  • Denomination is not a renaming; that would be a renomination. The prefix, "de," means an opposite. To be denominated is to have a nomination removed.

Nomination is nothing more than a naming before an election. It is confessing that one is worthy (in our case by Christ because of Him; not us) to be elected to Heaven. We are to make our election sure.

One who is voluntarily in a denomination voluntarily has his confession to Heaven by Christ removed; preventing election and Heaven.

  • I have never laughed sooo much in a YouTube video! My favorite parts were the gangster translation, the tongue-speaking chick, and the order of worship service. "and now, separate and apart from the Lords supper..." ahh! Soooo mundane! Awesome vid:)

  • As a former COC-er who now sees the obsurdity of the way ALL Christians (COC, Non-denomintional and Denominational) behave... I must say AMEN!!!! to this ... well said! Please do the higher quality video soon.

  • Slaves obey your master the preacher.

  • "and where are your church clothes?"

separate and apart, but at a convenient time in this comment, good work venusos. i will keep a ready recollection of this. :)

  • Very funny!

  • It's okay that you don't know who Stone and Campbell are. I hadn't heard of them until my senior year of high school. But I guess that just goes to show you just how far we have come in believing that we weren't "started" by a human, but by God. We don't even teach our own history.

    Anyway. You are correct.

  • True

  • *Partly.* Anglicans and Lutherans don't go so far as to claim to be THE one true restored Christian Church.

  • Yah but that would have to apply to Anglican and Lutherens too then. The Preterism thing is prevelant to many other denominations too (IM not supporting preterism)

  • And by reformation, you mean restoration.

    Great video guys.
