A few days ago I was looking for something I had left on my computer a couple of months ago, and in the folder that I stored whatever it was I was looking for in, I found a file named "inline." I don't quite remember the extension, but I do remember not ever seeing the extension before. I googled it and it turned out that it was a very obscure filetype used for audio that had become pretty much obsolete before the 21st century had even begun. Intrigued, I looked around for a converter to get this thing into mp3 format. The converter file was absolutely massive; if I recall correctly, a whopping 500 or so megabytes. It didn't even come with an installer, you just had to directly download it from this site that was copyright some guy from 1997-1998.

And it wasn't exactly much for any sort of merit, either. inline, which was only 800 something bytes, took like a half an hour to convert. The program's style was very very old, and its loading bar pissed me off so much because of how wrong it was- by the time the conversion was finished, it had jumped around so much that I didn't trust it anyway, but despite this I was still pretty annoyed when it reported it was only around halfway done when it finally popped up with a notification saying "Your File Is Converted," and then it closed abruptly without telling me where it had put the file.

I searched for inline on my computer and after a while of waiting it reported that only an .mp3 was on my computer. I was happy to have my file but I was also a little worried because I wanted to see if I could find more about the extension. Having forgotten what it was somehow, I looked to where I installed the to-mp3 converter- my desktop. Unfortunately enough, that was gone too. It wasn't even in my recycle bin. So then I tried my history on Firefox and to my dismay, all of my cookies had been cleared and I had to log back into everything but I didn't do that until I made sure I hadn't just downloaded a virus.

This is the .mp3 file that I converted. I listened to it once before uploading it here under a .wmv format, and I didn't recognize any of it. There was simply no structure to the track itself and it was very lengthy. There's lots of strange sounds that seem to be nonsense, lots of scratchy parts, lots of repeats, and lots of cut-off sounds. If you recognize any of the sounds, please tell me.
