Please post more lessons, for instance, showing which scales to use with which chords, and how to improvise over them. Thanks a lot. CB

Great lesson. By compressing the changes this way, you can get a lot more reps of doing the real work (the chord changes) than if you work on the rhythm from the get-go. It also helps eliminate the common problem of being late on the changes.

Hi, Les.
That would basically work for bass too, right? Once I condition myself to hear a series of roots, that should work fine, wouldn't it?

This is really helpful, thankyou! Got a question...I'm assuming that this method is transferable to piano - however, if it relies on muscle memory, will it still work if, when I get to playing it for real, I'm playing different voicings each time? I'm guessing that in the first stage of compressing the chords, you should stick to simple and basic voicings to make it most effective?

Brilliant!

Les,
This is a clever idea. Thanks for posting.

When I started playing I used to do this. I thought it was the natural thing to do in order to learn the changes! So I was doing right all those years ago while being told I had to learn. rhythm. Okay, so now I'll learn some timing! Lol! Thanks Les. JW
Yes - it can be transfered to the piano.
