DREAM Act: It's affecting her life

Student activist María Marroquín is deeply involved in the fight for getting the DREAM Act approved.

If that happens, this proposal would give thousands of undocumented immigrants attending US high schools the chance to get attend college or enlist in the U.S. Army.

There are currently two bills, one in the Senate and one in Congress, but the DREAM Act has four basic requirements: * You entered the country before the age of 16; * You graduate high school or obtain a GED; * You have good moral character (no criminal record); and * You have at least five years of continuous presence in the US.

La estudiante-activista María Marroquín está íntimamente involucrada en la lucha para que se apruebe la denominanda DREAM Act.

Si esto pasa, la ley le daría oportunidad a miles de inmigrantes indocumentados que estudian la High School en Estado Unidos de ir a la universidad o enlistarse en el ejército.

Actualmente hay dos propuestas, una en el Senado y otra en el Congreso, pero en sí el DREAM Act tiene cuatro requisitos básicos: * Si entraste al país antes de la edad de 16 años; * Si te graduaste de una High School u obtuviste el GED; * Si tienes buena conducta moral (no debes contar con antecendentes penales); y * Tienes por lo menos cinco años ininterrumpidos de presencia en Estados Unidos.
