Here are some pictures of my favorite places in the United States, set to the song "America" by Simon and Garfunkel.
03.73-48.73: Harpers Ferry, West Virginia (A little town with a big history. Its charm comes from not only its breathtaking natural landscape, but also from the stark beauty of its man-made landscape.)
52.47-56.20: Antietam National Battlefied, Maryland, site of the bloodiest single day in American history.
56.20-1:03.73: Longwood Gardens- Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. (If you're ever near Philly, you HAVE to go there. It's well worth it.)
1:07.47-1:26.20: Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Built in the early 1830's, it functioned as a high-security prison for over 150 years until it was abandoned in the 1970's. Now it's in a state of semi-ruin. Definitely one of the creepiest places I've ever been, but also the coolest!)
1:30.00-1:37.47: Independence Hall, Philadelphia (where the signing of the Declaration of Independence took place)
1:41.20-1:45.00: The skyline of Philadelphia
1:48.73-1:56.20: Hartford, Connecticut. Mark Twain's house, the CT state captitol building
2:00.00-2:30.00: Boston, Massachusetts. (Old North Church, The USS Constitution)
2:33.73-2:41.20: Driving on the New Jersey Turnpike (Part of the New York City skyline from Newark, my dirty windshield, interesting sights in the Bronx. Quite an adventure.:-/ This was only my second time in the NYC area, btw.)
2:45.00-2:48.73: Washington, D.C., obviously. (Which happens to be where I was born.)
2:52.47-3:11.20: Sault St. Marie, Michigan/Sault St. Marie, Ontario (These pictures were taken on a boat on the St. Mary's River, which divides the U.S. and Canada)
3:15.00-the end: Mackinac Island, Michigan. (A neat little place, for sure.)
America really isn't THAT bad, if you know where to look.:-)
