In this clip, Max Pomeroy (Keene Curtis) introduces the premise for "The Magician" as he explains to Mrs. Coogan (Kim Hunter) why Tony Blake (Bill Bixby) gets involved to help complete strangers. In this scene the production graciously credits "The Count of Monte-Cristo" for inspiration for this show's premise. Also in this scene, Lulu (Joan Caulfield) and Dennis Pomeroy (Todd Crespi).

Kim Hunter was just 50 when this was filmed.

I want to extend my apologies to the Bill Bixby and The Magician fans alike. I set out with good intentions but computer (and other) problems have prevented me from completing my work in this arena. As such I have a very incomplete website dedicated to "The Magician" in the works. I've been debating whether to open it as is or to wait till I have more done. It's in limbo for now but has tons of "The Magician" info and never before seen photos and screen captures. I hope to make good and open it soon, hopefully this summer.

I uploaded this video to test things, as I have been unable to upload anything to You Tube these past few months. (When Nina Foch passed away, I tried to upload a tribute video, but it failed and just failed again to upload, for unknown reasons... Hence why I'm sticking to videos under a minute for the time being.)

Thanks for that, Sam! I've always lamented that Joan Caulfield's character, Lulu, didn't make it to the series; she was so sweet in the pilot. These clips are always a nice reminder of my teenage crush on Todd Crespi---what a doll! I think I'll go watch those episodes again...

I agree, pincin. Joan Caulfield's Lulu was a wonderful character. I never did find out why she was dropped, whether the actress declined appearing in future episodes or whether she wasn't asked back is a mystery to me. Maybe someday we'll uncover that. Thanks for your comment!

Biggest mistake they made w/ this show was taking him out of living on a plane and putting him in a club; changing the cast didn't help much either

I love how Max always explains tidbits of Tony's past in each episode. Thanks for the explanations on the side bar. I hope you can get your website up. I'm sure it will be wonderful. I'll keep checking back. I'm sorry about the comp trouble.
