What exactly does an EWG do??
-
@bavarianv8 I wouldn't consider Tim Bailey the "subaru tuning god" The only name that comes up in my mind is Junior (The Shop CT) for that title. But that's just an opinion, which means nothing.
I actually do a bit of tuning, with AEM EMS, Link ECU, and ECUTEK (open ecu flash). I don't consider myself an expert by any means, but I do know what I'm talking about. If you don't believe me, do some fluid dynamics research, then apply that to an EWG on a turbo.

@thumpetto007 yeah those words came from Tim Bailey's mouth, AKA The subie tuning God !
so do you tune cars for a living?? subies in particular??, yeah prolly not.
STFU unless you actually know what your talking about. EWGs are not meant for Vf39 stock turbos, ant they WILL decrease your # results on the dyno. they are completely pointless on the stock STi turbo.

@99STM LOL! my car has 308whp and 350ftlbs, stock turbo, stock internal wastegate. and his car was dynoed at 296whp and 327wtq. I have def. more top end/ power than him.
like I SAID I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CONVERSATIONS WITH TIM BALIEY (SUBY TUNING GOD)
ILL TRUST HIS WORD OVER SOME JACKASS ON YOUTUBE.
MORONS

@bavarianv8 Sounds like you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. Why would installing an external wastegate hurt potential performance? You are just one of those dumbass' that thinks peak numbers are all that matters. I guarantee this guy has more power up top than your car.
-
@bavarianv8 You're completely wrong. An EWG on ANY TURBO will have only benifits. Especially on a stock vf39, where the internal wastegate is poorly positioned, and too small.
You also cannot quite compare dyno numbers without using a comparison with the stock numbers on said dyno. For example, on a local dyno stock STi's put down 220whp 230wtq, and with a full TBE, intake, and tune STi's put down 265whp 280wtq. I have now given you a comparison, which actually means something. Not just a #.

@jake05sti - saw your vids, see that the plano shop tuned it-
one other question on your launch control vid- why are you lifting your throttle foot while shifting ?
do you not have flatfoot shifting activated along with your LC?
only girls lift to shift while racing- bwhahaha
if you really think jakes sti has more "topend" then mine, maybe we should meet up and run them, I live in KC not too far from him.
Im on Kcsubaru.com, my cars name is casper. its an RA-R clone.

@bavarianv8 Well I dont have this car any more but I will say the benefits on the EWG is mostly quicker spool and peak boost. That car hit peak boost about 300 rpms earlier than that of a car with identical mods minus the EWG (on the same dyno w/ same tuner). It also holds a more consistant boost pressure and doesnt spike or creep at all which is really good on the engine internals and the turbo. That being said, if you want to run against the car I have now, good luck.

lol this is the exact same setup im looking at except I have a full TurboXS exhaust. What were your dyno numbers if you dont mind sharing?
tomac661 1 year ago
@tomac661 296 whp and 327 ftlbs on a mustang dyno. the tuner said it would have made over 300 whp if i had installed a fuel pump. i have a vid of it on the dyno on my profile

@jake05sti why are you running EWG on stock turbo??? did you have boost creep issues?
I think its causing you not to run up your potential
my 05 made 308whp and 350ft/lbs when i was TBE and stock turbo
your tuner must not know much cause if your running stock injectors your not doing crap by adding a walbro.

@bavarianv8 ya you are right cobb tuning doesnt know much about tuning...

@bavarianv8 also every dyno reads differently. the only numbers that really mean anything on a dyno are the afr and boost numers. as far as comparing power from one dyno to another, its apples to oranges.
