In-depth review of the Numark X² hybrid CD/Vinyl decks. This video deals with mixing from CD to vinyl and back (though you can't really mix _to_ CD, you have to just cut to it unless you're lucky enough to find a song with the exact same BPM or don't mind (slowly) changing the pitch of the currently playing song to match.)

  • thanks for the review as i have found excellent deals on these and in all honesty, am anything but hesitant to have these as my working machines given the numark rep for feel,

    question pending how ever,

can you still operate cds as like any other cdj? without having the platter rotate and just hitting the start stop button?

  • @mixstylee Yes, if you have it in TT mode, as I demonstrate in this video. But then you lose the scratching ability of course.

  • What's the connection from the platter to the cd player that allows you to scratch the cd?

  • It's the center spindle which is keyed for the numark record cap.

  • But how then did you scratch without that Numark record like around the 3:38 mark?

Also is there anything playable on that Numark record itself?

  • The center spindle spins with the platter normally if there's no record cap stopping it. I just moved the platter.

Yes, that blue record has scratch samples. See the HTFR demo video where they use one over a CD track.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • what is the songs ?

  • @jiggykgcltcs Use a spherical stylus and as little weight as possible. Most DJ cartridges will work with as little as 2g of stylus pressure. I usually use only that much unless I'm doing heavy scratching that demands more. With straight-arm turntables (the X2 comes with a straight arm as well) I rarely have to go above 3g.

  • the only thing about these is that you cant turn them battle style(vertical) without blocking one of the cd ports. they would have to make a left and right model to make it possible but they are really broke so....
