@ryanh206 well, that stuff was recorded in Prague during their 1997 live gig but not released officially...unfortunately, it is a great work indeed (and luckily, I have it too...)

ZF: my favorite band for years and years. I have almost everything they've recorded, but the best thing I think they've ever put out is a recording I got from a woman on YouTube. It's a live recording called "Zoviet France - Live @ Archa Theatre, Prague 1997" - I listen to it everyday while I paint - Believe me, it is their masterpiece imo. Better than Shadow, Thief of the Sun....check it out if you can find it.

This band influenced Devin Townsend according to one of his interviews.

One day I'll find something appropriate to put into a message. Until then, I'll just inform you that I love everything about democracy. Even the stuff that the elite determine. I hate stuff.
Most stuff. Fuck you. And your stuff.

This is probably the best track on this album, but overall it rates highly, although not a highly as Mohnomishe, Just an Illusion, Loh Land, in.version, What is Not True, or my absolute favourite - Shouting at the Ground.

@edshipsey well, it seems the feelings of different people on the same tracks really is convergent...in case you listen deeply with every single cell in your body...this is important otherwise one can land in absorbing just noisy tunes...and that would certainly be a pity...
-
i would certainly agree with you on the transcendence of what is not true, when the looping shipping forecast comes in at the end of the last track you really feel like you have travelled some distance it is so evocotive, but of what escapes me , great music for lieing down to and half hearing with your unconcious mind.

i don't know why but i really like that c&ap.

Yeah, agree...this opening is excellent! Maybe the best after Storey left the band...

I'm big time on ZF, but must say that aside from Something Spooked the Horses (one of ZF's most impressive tracks to date), the rest of the album was a bit too minimal, not as grand as this incredible opening track.

i agree with you!
i really wish 'stainless'/'dust and scratches' had taken a majority of the album rather than the rest of the tracks
cheers
