  • Yes, "Poetry and the Gods" was not included because it is a collaboration, and the B&N book is only those that HPL wrote alone. The Film Festival was spectacular -- any Lovecraftian would love it, it is a magnificent celebration of HPL & ye Mythos. The first thing S. T. said to me was that he wants a new Pugmire Mythos collection for Hippocampus Press -- so now I have three books to write before next October!! No rest for ye wicked!

  • I thought it might be because it was a collaboration and then I remembered Through the Gates of the Silver Key was included. That was a complete reworking so I can see how that would make it and real collaborations wouldn't.

Some day I hope I can go to the film festival.

  • This is an excellent commentary, thank you. I came upon it doing a Google search for "Poetry and the Gods," which I cannot find in any edition of Lovecraft. I thought S. T. would have included it in the complete Barnes & Noble edition -- but nay. I shall have to ask him about that when I see him to-morrow at ye Lovecraft Film Festival. Nor is ye tale included in ye Arkham edition of ye Revisions. I found ye text online, and came upon your superb commentary.

  • Thank you. How did the Lovecraft Film Festival go? I want to meet Mr. Joshi. Did you get to ask? I first read Poetry and the Gods in DEL REY's The Tomb and Other Tales.

  • "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" must be consider'd a special case, perhaps the thinking being that HPL wrote most of what we now have as the story -- and Hoffmann Price's original version has been publish'd a few times. Made me curious to see if "In the Walls of Eryx" was included in ye Penguin editions -- & it ain't. Interesting.

  • Interesting.
