Based on the musical masterpiece Carmina Burana, the cantata has been accentuated with hip-hop beats and illustrated with montages appropriated from popular rap music videos. The expressive hand movements of the hip-hop artists keep time with the piece in a fusion of classical music and contemporary pop culture. MATRIX 161 opens on February 3 at Phoenix Art After Hours.
