Victor Garber, Becky Ann Baker and David Garrison starred in this wonderful Arena Stage 1990 re-worked production of the Sondheim musical. Garrison allegedly quit his regular gig on TV's Married With Children to go with this production, in the hopes it would end up on Broadway. It didn't - but he subsequently starred in a variety of other shows in NYC and occasionally returned to guest on Married. Garber went on to TV's Alias, of course...

Victor Garber was an amazing J.W.B. If you can, I would suggest trying to find the Original Cast 1991 version. Everyone was just great. I have heard no production so far that could rival the original.
