Mario Kart Wii is overrated. the Items are cool but unbalanced, the Tracks leave much to be desired and the the selection of characters got desperate.

You can't download ANYTHING to the Wii because the DLC will be 100 megabytes just for ONE character. Considering that would take up 1/5 of the Wii's internal memory, it's not going to happen on the Wii. I know that for a FACT. Period.

That doesn't mean anything. Just because it "paved the way" doesn't mean it won't eventually be incrementally improved upon and ultimately bested by others. This is true in games just like in everything else.
Mario Kart has been in a horrendously sad state lately. It's been hampered by stupid rubberbanding/cheating AI, ridiculous item imbalance and race tracks that are blander than porridge. Mario Kart Wii was the weakest racing game I've ever played.

i 100% AGREE. plus didn't dk & crash bandicoot had a racing game simaler to mario kart?! hello!! mario kart ISN'T even that special!! plus i HATED mario kart wii, controls, levels, wii wheel, inconsistant characters, nearley everything about it pissed me off. i'm liking this game WAY better than mario kart.
