  • Hello!

Finally someone I can relate to! I am a vintage record collector that has been arguing for years that U.S. record mailers DO NOT PROTECT THE CORNERS OF RECORD COVERS! Think about it, they are basically the same size as record jackets, and during transit, how many times will the corners of the package be bumped? Many times! I've found that when only standard LP mailers are used, the corners of the vintage record being mailed will get dented 100% of the time! Continued...

  • Yes of course this is true... I wish others would recognize the merits of shipping this way....I've actually had some "big guys" tell me they don't have the time to do this! I only show the other method for those who are so attached to the LP mailers- it's like the world is flat or something. Its nice to know folks like you are out there!

  • I've had the same experience when asking high volume or well known dealers. I find that the smaller sellers are usually happy to do this. I wish someone would convince companies like Boxes Unlimited that their product is flawed. In Europe they have developed a superior mailer with overhanging flaps that stick out past the corners of the package thus protecting the cover's corners. If you are a record buyer, complain to sellers if you receive dented corners; they always say they never hear this.

  • I think its Boxes Unlimited that makes folded cardboard corners that fit into their mailers ....even so - feel free to send my link to your sellers...I need to put up a more concise version someday, but I'm too busy of course!...all the best to you, my friend- let me know what your up to- post on you tube eh?

  • I use a sleeve as well as bubble wrap to ship records. Some extra cushion gives me peace of mind.

  • @tcampbell33 yes!!! i did, didn't i?!! i forgot to remove it!!! lets leave it in case others thought the same...

    peace!!

  • @kernzyp You missed the whole point of this video. He is suggesting a way to ship SEALED records. Anybody who pays the premium for a sealed record does not want it to be opened before shipping.

  • Thank you, very awesome!

  • I have used Priority boxes before, and I do not recommend it. I have had customers state that the delivery person folded their package in half to fit it through a mail slot. And yes it did say "do not bend" on it. LP mailers are the only way I will ship now. However, I don't just throw the lp in the box and put some cardboard on top. I put a plastic sleeve over the lp, and place it in a poly t-shirt mailer. Then I tape the mailer down to the box so there will be no movement. It works well for me

  • How much does it cost to ship priority? Isn't it going to be really expensive?

  • When you sell on ebay, they only Allow you to Charge up to $4.00 for "MediaMail"..I have Been doing the same as you,Shipping the Box Flat...But,"Florida Post Office" is the "Only" one to send it Back...Saying that it Was "Priority" mail....How can you send it "Priority" if they only allow you to Charge $4.00 for MediaMail...This Makes No Sense!

  • how much do you usually spend to ship priority in the US? is it the 4.95?

  • how much do you usually spend to ship priority in the US?

  • @sealedvinylrecords hi,

liked your video's, but i have another thing which you overlooked. you MUST ALWAYS take the record out of the jacket/sleeve, then put them both in the plastic sleeve. tape does not stop sleeve splitting. how can it? it's external. the record is smaller.
