  • Solar radiation has gone down at precisely the same time that global temps have gone up. Human activities contribute significantly to the problem.

  • Tune in, turn on ,drop out

  • Indeed, people should open their eyes and save the world!

  • @jffryh 'yeah, wipe off developing world. only let white people live!

  • markets have existed for as long as people have ever traded goods & serivces with one another. business and consumers share responsibility. polititions & citizens. Yes, someone needs to stand up and demand that carbon be taxed. are economy must shrink in the near term so that intelligent life won't disappear forever from the universe. yes, for god's sake, please someone, stand up.

  • I don't understand, you don't value you're skin. what are saying? because humans have been sinful we deserve to all die? that the good will go to heaven, the bad will go to hell, so it's just dandy with you if there's no more new souls ever created on earth? you want me to apologize for valuing human life on earth? such as it is, the only intelligent life we know of in this godless universe.

  • jffryh, the problem is corporations, and the free market in general, because the free market will not ask how to reduce carbon emissions, but how to most efficiently buy congress to stop the tax, like they did in the Robber Baron Era.

Someone needs to stand up to the market and tell it that it was set up by the government for the benefit of society, rather than the other way around, and that government can unset it down if it proves inimical to society.

  • even if we stopped existing today the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere will continue to rise for thousands of years to come. at this point the damage has already been done. these debates are now in the social sciences rather than environmental sciences. Weve already started the snowball rolling, there really int much we can do other than slow the inevitabe a little bit.

  • Lots of species have gone extinct, many at the hands of humans. Not to mention global genocide, slavery and imperialism. I don't value my skin so much as you do yours.

  • The problem is not corporations, its carbon. Carbon should be taxed to encourage people to conserve & to turn to alternative energies. Beyond the tax, the free market should determine how carbon emissions should be reduced with the most efficiency.

  • Right, you don't give a shit whether humans go extinct in the next few centeries, just so long as energy stays as cheap as possible while you're still alive personally. It just feels so good to fuck your own children.
