There was nothing especially different about the pregame clubhouse, no John Belushi on the TV, smashing his guitar against a wall, no pies in the face, towel-smacking - nothing.
''We really don't do anything as crazy as 2004,'' said Kevin Youkilis. ''I think this group of guys is a little bit different in the way they go about their business and go about their approach to get ready for a game, but there's some joking around.''
What's not different is that these Red Sox knew their backs were, ahem, against the wall, yet they maintained their regular routines and went out and did what got them there - just play good, old, solid baseball. Just as the '04 team did when it was in mortal danger against the Yankees, this team took care of business in the most positive way.
Starting with Youkilis' first-inning solo home run, continuing with the absolutely outstanding pitching of Josh Beckett, the Sox smashed the Cleveland Indians, 7-1, at Jacobs Field Thursday night, earning themselves a Game 6 at Fenway Park Saturday night.
Good luck with the Yankees, C. C., you always get your Fat Ass kicked when it matters most. You were never a "Big Game Pitcher" anyway.
