Knife defense in Martial Arts is a myth - O mito da defesa contra facas

This video shows what many teachers are afraid to admit, there is no real defense against blade.

There are some excellent knife defenses, but u have to simultaneously evade the attack while simultaneously delivering damage. AND u have to be able to do this in the face of a continuous attack. Search this for a realistic looking attack: "Stabbing, or "How Knife-Fighting and Defense Pan Out"" & this for a sensible realistic defense on YouTube: "Prison trained knife attack defense options". Think of a counter attack like this vid: "Las Vegas Take Down" where one hand blocks the initial attack.

my left ear liked this :D

that's why I will buy a retractable baton. Increasing the distance betweeen me and the ataccker givee me more time to just beat the shit out of him or just run. If I move to a real country where I can have a firearm, I'll never stop carrying my baton :D

you're absolutely right about the chair and some other stuff to stretch out the distance between you and and the opponent. That's why I'm going to buy a baseball bat!

72 of out 85, I can believe that. I'm English and I know people from Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester who've survived knife attacks. All three said they didn't realise the guy had a blade until afterwards when they noticed they were bleeding. The adrenaline blocks out the pain much more than people realise.

Wouldn't you like to have a bottle of alcohol to splash on some of those guys.

Very good video. A lot of martial artists should be watching this. I've done some knife fighting training and was told that the only way you're going to survive a knife attack is if you can run or hide behind something, otherwise, you're going to need a knife yourself, and be able to slash at the attacker's hand quickly enough to make him lose the knife. That's why I try to always carry one. No fancy techniques that only work if the attacker is a complete retard.
i looked on the internet and didnt find this guys that aparently died , in any place... googlle , wikipedia and nothing

what you're saying is pretty stupid, its obvious theres no such thing as a perfect defence, what martial arts teach you is merely how to get out of a situation with minimum damage, its a question of how god you are and also how lucky. if you want to get good train arder, better get a litle cut on your arm than a knife in you eye, or get killed but thats just my opinion

@AllStarsProdigy You're missing the point. First off, some would disagree with you. I've seen plenty of people claiming it's easy or that their defense is perfect. Second, it doesn't matter how good you are, you still have very little chance of sucess and believing in inefficient techniques doesn't help. Real knife attacks are fast and continuos, most defenses are based on the fact that the knife will come slowly or in a locked angle.

@AllStarsProdigy People who actually believe their techniques may save their lives should just test them. It's easy, you just need to get a marker of rubber knife and ask any untrained person to attack you with it as if it was a knife as if they really wanted you dead. I've seen this scenario over and over and the best result was a disarm after the FIFTH attack. Oh, and that test was made with the defender being able to choose what attack would be made and the attacker counting down!

@AllStarsProdigy Finally, the best way to save your life when facing a knife attack is to run. No shit, right? Second best is firing a gun, but if the distance is inferior to five meters you're still in danger of being cut while drawing it. The third one, thousands of times most likely to succeed than a disarm, is using a chair or something similar to increase the distance.
Take a look at what some people sell as knife defense:
