  • I like very much his performance as Marcus Aurelius, but Guinness never liked this film.

  • Why not? It's one of his greatest!

  • In his autobiography, Blessing in Disguise, he said that he watched no more than 20 minutes of the film, he never liked the screenplay. Is not a bad film, specially know, when is very easy watch bad films, but is a comercial film, acomercial film of the 60's.

  • I find the screenplay very good. It has, of course, many historical goofs, although far less than "Gladiator", which is a plagiarized version of this movie.

  • Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou wilt always look there.

  • Trust me, Obi-Wan was the least remarkable of his performances.

  • Nothing happens to man man he is not fitted by nature to bear

  • Guinness's best role was, "Bridge on the River Kwai." My vast opinion. :) I've seen a number of his films but never this one. It does seem what I call, canned. I had forgotten the actor who plays the general but he was in all kinds of movies back in the day. I remember him because of his wrinkles and always thought he wasn't that handsome because of them. Hollywood disagreed! lol

  • @edwardszzz nero never had blonde hair same with caligula ! really what kind of nazi are you!

  • @GaiusIuliusTaberna american bristish its all shit but i guess im with you atleast rome is on the films

  • @histatimaniples Its an American film... I'm just pleased it doesn't show Italian stereotypes eating Christians... nice to see romans portrayed in a positive light once and a while... even if its qualified...

  • @edwardszzz Um... no... they were latins, Both Caligula and Nero were of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, they were from some of the oldest families in Rome dating back to its founding, in Latium, by the latins.

What kind of a Nazi are you supposed to be?

  • @histatimaniples:- The emperor Nero had blonde hair and Caligula had red hair. They were not Latins.

  • Marcus Aurelius was a lenient ruler, famous for his meditation,he saw Christians as enemies of the roman empire.

  • funny how he hated playing obi-wan in star wars. It's the only role I've seen him in but I can understand how he would feel about the crazy fan base.

  • It is.
