Eastern Washington University Director of Percussion Studies Michael Waldrop, D.M.A. performed "Trees" by Thom Limbert on January 13th, 2010 in the EWU Music Building Recital Hall.

Trees is a unique virtuosic work for marimba and piano. The style of the piece bears the harmonic influence of Aaron Copland and contemporary jazz artists like Pat Metheny. The title of the piece reflects the physical nature of the marimba as a wooden instrument and is a sonic reflection of the living origins of the sound of the marimba. I am honored to be joined on this piece by pianist Ivana Cojbasic.
