There has never been an advocate for this concerto, over a long period of time, as Rubinstein was for Saint- Saens No 2 or Horowitz was for the Rachmaninov No 3 and that is a shame because this concerto is a Gallic delight from beginning to end.
It is a masterpiece and is brilliantly constructed.

This concerto has five sections. This is section 4 and 5, Andante and Allegro. I have previously posted section 3 (Allegro vivace) on my channel.

  • C'est bien d'avoir posté la seconde partie de ce concerto mais tu aurais du préciser qu'il est incomplet .

  • @lklkhjhjdfs J'ai placé l'allegro vivace de cet article sur ma chaîne.

  • Ridiculous! Gilels and Cortot, the finest pianists ever!

    Thank you sir for posting.

  • @naumandolphin Rubinstein continued performing the Saint Saens Concerto 2 into his 80's..Horowitz performed The Rachmaninov 3rd in 1978 at the age of 75. He first played it in 1919. I can find no record of Cortot, who died in 1962, performing the Saint Saens No. 4 after the 1930's.He carried the Schumann into his old age as well as the Beethoven No 1 among others, but not the Saint Saens.Nor can I find any record of Gilels ever performing the Saint Saens No. 4

  • Thank you so much. I love this recording.

  • @mercantilist0 I got to know this piece from the Entremont recording also!

  • excuse j'avais pas vu

  • This is one of my favorite concertos, including the ending theme. Hella difficult though. Gaelic is a very good word to describe it, I've been using Celtic, which it kind of is too, I think.
