Terra Madre Day 2009 did take place in over 100 countries all over the world december 10. One of the over 1000 events took place i Oslo, Norway in a local café. The idea from the Slow Food Oslo convivium was to connect 3 local food producers with a local café. At the Terra Madre Day we invited Elisabeth Maarud which is producing King Oyster Mushrooms organically, a quality product which more and more people are asking for and getting to appreciate. Hans Arild Grøndahl at Grøndalen farm meaning the Green valley farm is being run in an ecological manner, having excellent animal welfare, and producing a fromage blanc called Nýr, which is pronounced neer and can by all means replace both cream and sour cream. Trygve Nesje at Holli mill which is located in a place called Spydeberg where organically cultivated grains are ground into flour with millstones. Besides, the cereals are required to be near to the original types of grain which have not been hybridised by man. The event was a success. The cafe was happy, the producers was happy and the guests were happy. Slow Food Oslo is pleased to make our local and specially organic food more visible. The event was economically supported by The County Governor of Oslo and Akershus. ( Photos: Roar Møll and Per Christian Bakken)
