Melanie C | Blood Brothers | Tell Me It's Not True (26/10/09 Opening Night)

Okay so book your tickets already. She's going to improve as her run goes on and I can't WAIT to see how great she is on the final night... sure it's not without it's flaws but for her first west end role? BRAVA!!!

She cried during this, more out of relief, actually making it through her west end debut... well Done Melanie!

Urrrrhhhhh this is awful, voice isn't right, accent isn't right, not old enough to play Mrs Johnston.

I didn't think she was right and I'm a fan.

She was UBER nervous this night, I'm surprised she didn't fluff her lines but she was visibly shaking throughout and the tears of relief she let out throughout this song, said it all.

a few nights later she was 100 times better and she's WOW'd the london critics with five star reviews from all the big papers... you can't please everyone though.

Hope this is the start of a west end career for melanie :)

I do think she'll improve over time, the nerves had her on opening night but she fought through them.

The Relief poured out of her in the form of tears during this one. She was practically perfect in every way :)

When I went and seen Blood Brothers it was one of the final perfomances. She was fucking amazing.

In fact this is also Melanie's real musical role from the time we know her. And if you ask me , right age or not, I think she did a fantastic job. She was very nervous,also to the opening night which was where I saw it. But she was just amazing though she was nervous. But who wouldn't get nervous at the opening night of something they've never really done before? Melanie C is a fantastic person and a fantastic star. I would love to see it again with her starring someday :)

@Micromaeve I dont think its right to say she isnt the right age to play mrs johnston as you have to rememeber this musical takes place starting with young mrs johnston and progresses to old mrs johnston so technically every actress will either be too young or too old for the role unless you double cast which would then lead to contingonsy problems. Not the best redition Ive heard but it was ok.

i have seen blood brothers many many times, i have lost count. i have watched it tonight in front of melanies home crowd of liverpool on the opening night at the liverpool empire. while she was very good and did indeed hold her own, i just felt there was something missing and i have ocme to the conclusion that she is too young for such an iconic role. my favourites have to be both nolan sisters and helen reddy. barbara dickson believe it or not was the worst mrs j i have ever seen.

Although her nerves I think her performance was amazing. I mean everyone gets nervous when its a first time. And I was proud of her that night. I knew she could act but she really impressed be very much that night and yeah she has improved herself now and she is much better but she was just great at the opening show. I wish I could have stayed over there to see every shows of her in the play. BUt I cant. BUt now it has almost reached its end and she had a great success with the musical <3 <3
